01 What is the TransitionLab Merseburg?

The TransitionLab Merseburg is a central location in the CLIA Passage in Merseburg that makes the structural transformation of the chemical industry and of the Central German Mining District physically tangible It bundles scattered transformation activities from industry, research, politics, and civil society in one location and translates them into encounter, information, and civic dialogue.

02 Where is the TransitionLab located?

The TransitionLab is located in the CLIA Passage in the center of Merseburg (Saxony-Anhalt). The city is roughly 15 minutes from the Leuna chemical park and forms part of the Central German Mining District.

03 When does the TransitionLab open?

The opening is in October 2026. The construction phase runs throughout 2026. Partner and surface acquisition is already underway. Early-booking advantages are available on info@transitionlab.eu available on request.

04 Which advertising surfaces can I rent?

The following surfaces are available in total:

  • 1× XXL outdoor screen at the CLIA Plaza (40 m²)
  • 2× Indoor LED screens in the Forum
  • 12× 55-inch indoor screens in the Passage
  • 20× hexagonal columns (carbon form) with up to 6 configurable surfaces each
  • Print and lightboard surfaces in the 55-inch cell format

The smallest bookable unit is 1/6 cell, a single side surface of a column.

05 What does an advertising surface cost?

Per 1/6 cell (one side surface):

  • Print, from 330 €/month
  • Lightboard (backlit, 55 inch), from 440 €/month
  • Screen (55 inch, moving image), from 550 €/month
  • XXL outdoor screen at the CLIA Plaza, from +1,000 €/month

Volume discount: −5% from 3 surfaces, −10% for the complete cell (6 surfaces). Term bonus: −50% on initial production at 24 months, Initial production free at 36 months.

06 How long is the minimum term?

The minimum term is 12 months. Discounts on initial production are available from 24 months (−50%) and from 36 months (free of charge).

07 Can associations and initiatives participate free of charge?

Yes. An entire honeycomb cell is explicitly reserved for associations, initiatives, and social projects, and via an application procedure is available free of charge. The TransitionLab thereby strengthens proximity to citizens and social integration. Applications via the contact form or directly to info@transitionlab.eu.

08 What is the CLIA principle?

The CLIA principle describes a self-reinforcing cycle: the region delivers content and activities. The TransitionLab bundles them and makes them tangible. Visitors arrive, gain understanding, experience the region in its periphery, and increase the frequency. The center activates the entire region.

09 Whom do I reach with an advertising surface?

At the TransitionLab the region comes together: Citizens, Professionals, Tourists, Investors, Politics & Administration (federal, state, district, city), Press, which Host region (hoteliers, restaurateurs, winemakers, bicycle rental businesses) as well as initiatives and associations.
